Hey there, I'm Dex ;
I'm a poet getting my BA in English in August 2026. My work focuses intersectional themes of the human condition- queerness , grief, addiction, and love. I'm involved in mutual aid, I'm dedicated to celebrating diverse voices, and I'm passionate about literacy & craft/revision. As a senior editor for genesis Literary and Art magazine at IU Indy, I've been honored to assess student work showcasing creativity through uniquely articulated experiences.

It's taken me seven years to get to graduation for my BA, and I found myself getting frustrated that my last semester was becoming an attempt to prove* myself . . .
* not proving myself, I'm curating a selection of my work for an anthology that showcases my passion.
PROOF

In the early semesters of pursuing my English BA, already three years deep spinning down the drain of an undecided major, I learned about revision. Conceptually, I knew a first draft was just that- a first draft. What I established in those early semesters and developed throughout my undergraduate career was my own writing process; I formulated my own philosophy of revision, accepted the inevitability of a "shitty first draft", and adopted revision in my life outside of the classroom;
I found my passion for editing through it all.Â
